News Item ~ Part 3 & 4

๐Ÿ“ฐ News Item ๐Ÿ“ฐ

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“ŒPart 3

Hello everyone, back again on my blog. at this meeting I will explain about news item text part 3.  In part 3, we conclude the discussion about news item text. let's have a look ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒผDefinition of News Item Text

In English, "news" means news. Of course this is not foreign to us. Some English experts define news item text as follows:

“News items is a text that informs the readers about newsworthy or important events of the day.”

News item text is a text that informs readers about newsworthy or important daily events. Newsworthy which means worthy to be reported, so not all events / events can be reported. Only important events or events are newsworthy. If the event / incident is not important then it is not worthy to be reported and known to many people.

๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒผThe purpose of news items text

The purpose of news items text is to inform readers or news listeners about daily events that are newsworthy or important. And the events that are reported are usually the latest events or events.

๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒผNews Item Text Characteristics

  • Brief, information about the story captured in the title
  • Using action verbs
  • Using the past tense in explaining news events
  • Using saying verbs
  • Using adverbs: time, place and manner.

๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒผGeneric Strukture News Item Text

  • Main Event/Newsworthy Event

Main worthy event is the main news, the part that tells a summary of an important event or event that occurred.

  • Background Event/Elaboration
Background Event/Elaboration tells in detail the background of events or events that occurred, who was involved, where and how the events occurred.
  • Source
Source, the last part of the news item text structure, sources that provide information related to an event, can be in the form of statements from sources, witness comments, expert opinions, or statements from related parties from an event.

๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒผLanguange Features Of News Item
  • short, telegraphic information about story capturedin headline
  • use of material processes/action verbs to retell the story or event
  • use of projecting verba; processes in "Source" stage
  • using adverb like: badly injured, the most beautiful bride in the world

๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒผTips for writing news items
How to arrange News Item text? Check out the steps in detail below:
  • Determine the news to be delivered. Preferably the news that is currently hot or current in the community. The warmer the better.
  • Write the main story at the beginning of the manuscript you are going to write. This is useful for keeping the reader focused and wanting to read more.
  • Write the contents of the news with 5 W + 1 H. That is, the news is about what, when, where, and why this happened. Write down the process in detail.
  • Write down news sources. It could also be through eyewitnesses of the incident. For example, there is a fire disaster in a village, write an interview with one of the residents who saw the beginning of the incident.
  • After the news draft is ready, start assembling. Since News Item Text is an English script, you can choose one of these two options. Use Indonesian first and then translate into English, or use English directly.

The final part is editing. Manuscripts that have been made should not be published immediately. Need to re-check. The re-check can focus on spelling, functional sentences, and the content of the news is worthy or not suitable for people to read.

News item 1
Patient’s Medication Errors

(Reuters Health) - Half of all heart patients made at least one medication-related mistake after leaving the hospital, and guidance from a pharmacist didn't seem to reduce those errors, in a new study.

Consequences of mistakes - such as forgetting to take certain drugs or taking the wrong dose - can range from side effects like constipation to more serious drops in blood pressure. Two percent of errors were life-threatening.

Hospitals involved in the study were already taking steps to prevent medication mistakes in addition to the extra pharmacist intervention, said Dr. Sunil Kripalani, the study's lead author from the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

"We were surprised to see that in spite of these efforts that 50 percent (of patients) were still having these medication errors," he told Reuters Health.

Although the pharmacist visits didn't help the average patient, he added, certain ones seemed to benefit - such as patients who were on multiple drugs or had trouble understanding health information.

As for traditionally lower-risk patients, he said other strategies to prevent errors may be needed.

News Item ~ Part 1

๐Ÿ“ฐ News Item ๐Ÿ“ฐ

Hello everyone, back again on my blog. at this meeting I will explain about news item text part 1. let's have a look ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

KATE BOLDUAN, CNN ANCHOR: Hello, everyone. I'm Kate Bolduan. Thanks so much for joining us this hour. It seems crystal clear now that when it comes to the coronavirus, you cannot have your cake and eat it, too. You can't, on one hand, not do the hard work, not dramatically change behavior, not wait until the science-driven guideposts have been met and then still expect to have nice things. And by nice things, I really only mean getting back to something that looks like normal. It's clear you can't just beat this virus by hoping for the best.

Take a look at the process of reopening schools and universities. In multiple places around the country, COVID outbreaks are forcing school officials to reverse course and suspend in-person learning. The latest and most glaring example, the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, which announced that it is no longer holding in-person classes for undergrads after about 130 students tested positive for COVID in the first week
